Cartidin is a medicine that belongs to the anthraquinone class. It is used to treat the symptoms associated with degenerative diseases of the bones and joints. It is also used to relieve pain and swelling associated with Osteoarthritis. Cartidin is slow acting and is used as a long-term treatment option for osteoarthritis.
The recommended dose is 50 mg to be taken twice daily. Swallow it as a whole, do not chew, crush or break it. Cartidin is to be taken with food. This medicine is slow acting and takes around 4-8 weeks to show its effect.
Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
Cartidin is unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. This medicine should be used with caution in patients having an irritable bowel or other associated conditions of the gastrointestinal tract due to an increase in the risk of adverse effects.
Possible side effect
The most common side effects are diarrhea, stomach discomfort and pain, vomiting, nausea, yellowing of the skin and eyes, intense yellow urine. Stop using Cartidin and call your doctor at once if you have allergic skin reaction or increase in liver enzyme levels.
Some medicines may interact with Cartidin. Tell your health care provider if you are taking Aluminium Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide, Amoxycillin and Laxatives.Interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, seizure.
Store the medicine at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store the drugs in the bathroom. Keep all drugs away from reach of children and pets.
